Cloud computing has helped many businesses to become independent of their physical IT resources in past 5-6 years. Experts believe that cloud computing will become more prevalent in 2017 and accelerate towards small as well as large businesses. Now there will be big data centers to support both private and public cloud so that enterprises could plan better to optimize their resources and serve their customers.
In 2017 there could be various trends related to cloud computing which we can see :
1. More Businesses come towards Cloud Computing
Most businesses who adopted the cloud computing earlier have shown profitability and are planning to move more resources to the cloud so it will encourage many business owners to think seriously towards cloud computing.
2. Lesser on-premise infrastructure
More and more businesses want to get rid of their on-site infrastructure and move to a much agile environment where resources could be accessed easily and independent from geographical location.
There will be a big move towards hyper-convergence. As data center size will be increased which could handle multiple resources and integration could be better so many private cloud owners would think about going for hyper-convergence. hyper-convergence gives some building blocks on which the cloud infrastructure could be installed but there is still a vast difference from what this platform provide and what business require. There is an 80:20 ratio between demand and supply of hyper-convergent systems and business infrastructure. It will be a big challenge for IaaS (Infrastructure as Service) providers to match up the expectations.
4. Cloud Architecture
Cloud architecture is the platform on which all the resources are put upon. Existing IT infrastructure has different demands than current cloud architecture so it remains a problem for cloud engineers to fully utilize the cloud platform. With public cloud storage, there is no much need for full replacement of IT resources but still, there are some Integrated blocks which could not be eliminated and they must be carried to the cloud.
5. Multiple Cloud provider will ease the Business
Now a business manager will not be depended upon the sole cloud provider and could employ different vendors for different resources. It could lead to a better cloud management and cost savings.Cloud management includes all the resources, processes, their controls, and services but saves the expensive long-term contracts with any cloud service provider.
6. CMaaS(Cloud Monitoring as Service) will prevail
With increased dependence on Cloud computing and more and more resources saved on the cloud, the CMaaS (Cloud Monitoring as Service) will be quite helpful for the cloud vendors and businesses. CMaaS improves the application performance to its maximum level and its simpler implementation has made it cloud managers to act proactively on issues. 2017 will be an important year for CMaaS provider as more businesses will adopt to cloud computing and a proper monitoring will be needed.
7. More dependence on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
In 2016, all three major cloud giants Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have announced big projects related to Machine learning and this trend is going to be stronger in 2017 as Google had released – TensorFlow which is an Open-Source platform for machine learning. Microsoft came with the cloud-based platform for machine learning and Amazon too announced different machine learning services. With more and more businesses adopting to artificial intelligence to develop applications, we are going to see a lot more cloud-based artificial intelligence platforms in coming future.
8. Serverless Computing will gain Momentum
Serverless computing was introduced in 2015 which gained popularity in 2016 and there is much hype towards it in 2017. In serverless computing, the code is revoked by an event and it gives the chance to build applications without having any infrastructure resources. For ex, in a device is uploading details in the database, the serverless cloud computing will execute its action; it will make a copy of the information in the data warehouse. There could be different applications built by using serverless computing.
9. Profits would grow
Cloud computing is seeing an exponential growth in terms of acceptability and profitability. Many businesses which have adopted to cloud platforms are now lesser dependent on their on-site infrastructure and it has made cloud computing a profitable option.
Overall cloud computing is growing at a rate of 22% annually and experts estimate that it will touch around $146 billion until the end of 2017. It is way up than $87 billion in 2015 and will reach at $236 billion in 2020.
In 2016, AWS hit the revenues around $13 billion, Microsoft did not disclose its total revenue for its Azure platform but experts believe that it is around half of AWS. Google too earned around $1 billion from its cloud platforms.
10. Cloud 2.0 in 2017
Cloud computing has seen a massive industrial adoption in previous years. It has moved beyond just off-site infrastructure management and experts believe that till 2018 around 80% of total business will be run through cloud platforms. It is believed that those organizations which are already using cloud services will have to change themselves to accept the significant cloud changes in upcoming years as it will expand more.
